Sadamune Ogasawara (
Appearence[]
Ogasawara wore a traditional costume, when in battle he usually wore armor and his bow.
Personality[]
Sadamune was someone who was serious, but had an eccentric personality due to his habit of showing his eye to most people. He was a leader respected by his people and did not like to be humiliated or lose dishonorably.
Sadamune was shown to be petty at times. Flaunting his authority as governor of Shinano to immediately provoke Suwa, and even go as far as shoot an arrow at a shrine maiden to injure her ear as further taunting, an act that repudiated Suwa and the Elusive Warriors for attacking a bystander. When his imperial decree scheme failed, he threw a temper tantrum in frustration.
Sadamune was proud and confident on his skills and showed very little hesitation when action was required, being the kind of person to dirty his own hands, and was a fairly thorough strategist. Making his way into a dog shooting competition in order to extract concesions from Suwa as his prize. When this failed he rapidly secured an imperial decree to seize land, and came with further schemes in order to antagonize Suwa to comply with the Mikado's orders. Taking his rank very seriously, he disliked it when others spoke casually to him, as Ichikawa did once, which rattled Sadamune deeply.
Sadamune was a warrior through and through. He knew that violence and death are mundane in turbulent times, but wouldn't condone acts of needless cruelty, especially if they bring no real benefits. He harshly scolded Shokan for murdering the entire adult population of a village as it meant they could no longer extract taxes from it, and was against the Kokushi's abusive taxation of rice that was both unlawful, and starved the populace. He also beheaded the appointed ruler of Suwa's territories after its fall, as he had committed repeated acts of abuse.
Although old, Sadamune was shown to be flexible in his thinking, constantly adapting to the ever evolving and chaotic era. His encounters with Hojo Tokiyuki would prove fundamental on this as the boy's increasingly disruptive, atypical and unconventional style of combat and strategies would force Sadamune himself to always be wary of Tokiyuki's own machinations and force him change his ways.
In the end he would grow to be a respected general both by his subordinates and enemies who praised his skill and honor in combat, his intelligence in strategy and administrative work and for his humane style of leadership. Although his name and achievements would remain relatively obscure in history, by his own accord he did not care about post mortem glory, as he's dead set in fulfulling his duties.
