Go-Daigo (
Appearance[]
In most of his appearances his shadow and eyes usually appear due to his position.
His appearance is that of a man with a long dark beard and his hair is long and combed back.[1]
Personality[]
Go-Daigo is shown to be a serious and proud person. Well aware of his position, he rarely, if ever, shows himself, instead sitting the majority of the time behind the curtains, creating an aura of authority and mysticism. The emperor is a person of very few words and will speak only the necessary amount of words needed. Sometimes this is displayed in rather lighthearted ways by speaking a single word or sentence, and have those words relayed by his attendants who bow in reverence immediately.
Despite his eccentricities, Go-Daigo is shown to be fairly pragmatic in his rule, which is shown regularly over time: From appointing Sadamune to governor to find Hojo clan survivors, to simplify the process of distribution of land, although the latter only occurred after being flooded with thousands of applications for reward, many of which were fraudulent and decided to do away with the bureaucracy on its entirety simply because he found it "a pain".
Go-Daigo for a time relied greatly on Takauji as his main enforcer knowing of his skill and his results, even favoring him over his own son, who was effectively demoted after a failed attempt at Takauji's life. Despite of this, Go-Daigo's favor was not unlimited and could accurately detect Takauji's hidden ambitions by setting clear lines. Takauji's unauthorized actions and the murder of his son, would be the final straw for Go-Daigo before breaking away with his most powerful warrior and branding him a traitor.
As further proof of his wisdom and political maneuvering, he was willing to accept Tokiyuki Hojo as an ally as they both shared a common enemy and threat on Takauji, despite the fact Go-Daigo was also responsible for the demise of Hojo clan and sought them killed out of fear of being a threat to his rule.
History[]
After the fall of Kamakura and the death of the Hojo clan at the hands of Takauji, the domain returned to him. From that moment the emperor gave Takauji everything he wanted, giving him enough power to appoint positions and letting him stay in Kyoto.
After a time he appointed Kiyohara as Kokushi which would give him enough power to govern a territory.
Abilities[]
Upon becoming emperor following the demise of the Kamakura Shogunate, Go-Daigo is the de facto ruler of Japan, enjoying supreme political power. As such he can command legions of military forces, and has the power to appoint people to positions of high status. As a result of his status, he enjoys the power to distribute land in any way that he deems fit, and enforce his will through imperial decrees.
