My Buddha (わたしのほとけさま Watashi no Hotoke-sama?) is the ninth episode of The Elusive Samurai anime series.

The Elusive Warriors engage in a fierce battle with the Seigi Party, a group spearheaded by Shokan himself. Stuck in a small chamber and faced with opponents wearing armor, Tokiyuki uses the “escape” technique he learned from Fubuki to face off against General Shokan.[1]

Synopsis[]

The battle between the Seigi Party, led by Shokan, and the Elusive Warriors intensifies.

In a small room and facing a tough situation with an armored warrior, Tokiyuki uses the "escape" technique he learned from Fubuki to face off against the general, Shokan.

Meanwhile, Kojiro and Ayako struggle against Seigi Party executive, Shiro. And what is Fubuki's plan in luring out another Seigi Party executive, Furan?

Boys and girls who aim to reclaim the world take on adults with overwhelming fighting power.

Can the merciful Buddha's single blow bring salvation to the demons wandering the darkness of hell?[2]

Anime and Manga Differences[]

  • The episode with a scene of Tokiyuki's reflection on Fubuki's sword, this scene is original to the anime.
  • In the anime, Fubuki makes a sword movement before cutting the straw while in the manga Fubuki only cuts the straw.
  • After Fubuki tells Tokiyuki that the Elusive Sword is the perfect technique for him, in the manga, Tokiyuki makes a space with his fingers indicating to Fubuki that that technique can only cut skin or muscle while in the anime he does not make any movement with his hand.
  • The anime adds a scene of Tokiyuki being frightened at the sight of a vengeful Shokan.
  • The anime expands on Shokan's talk to Tokiyuki as well as adding more scenes of Tokiyuki being scared (although he was actually ecstatic about the cut he just made).
  • The anime adds scenes of red ants while Shokan talks to Tokiyuki.

  • In the manga, you can see a hand moving the entrance to the room so that Kojiro, Ayako and Fubuki can then enter to congratulate Tokiyuki. In the anime, it is not possible to see how they open the door.
  • In the manga, after Fubuki says she will warn that Shokan has died so that her retainers will retreat, they hear a noise causing them to leave the room and Kojiro recognizing the Ogasawara emblem on the standard before Sadamune and his army arrive, in the anime they hear a noise omitting the scene in which Kojiro recognizes the standard.
  • In the anime when Sadamune recognizes Tokiyuki his eye turns into a telescopic sight while in the manga this does not happen.
  • A scene of Kojiro and Ayako arguing with Sadamune is added.
