Anime and Manga Differences[]

  • At the beginning of the episode, Tokiyuki and Sadamune's score is shown, in the manga this does not happen.
  • Moritaka, Kojiro, Ayako and Shizuku are added watching Tokiyuki and Sadamune's competition.
  • In the manga, Tokiyuki narrates how difficult it is to aim as Sadamune hits through his blind spot, while in the anime this narration is done by Moritaka.
  • In the manga, after Tokiyuki shoots Sadamune from behind for the first time, Yorishige proceeds to explain that the name of that technique is Phartian Shot and then Tokiyuki proceeds to give Sadamune a second shot, however in the anime, when Tokiyuki gives Sadamune the second shot is where the aforementioned technique begins to be explained.
  • When Yorishige celebrates Tokiyuki's victory, the background is seen to be a reference to Dragon Quest while in the manga it refers to a generic game interface.
  • In the anime, when Sadamune loses the competition, he approaches Yorishige to tell him that he will find the members of the Hojo clan that he is hiding while in the background Kojiro, Ayako and Shizuku are seen pointing at Tokiyuki. In the manga, when Sadamune loses the competition, he and his subordinates ride away on horseback while he shouts that he will find the survivors of the Hojo clan, so Yorishige, Kojiro, Shizuku and Ayako proceed to point at Tokiyuki.
  • The scene of Ichikawa asking Sadamune if his eyes are sweating is removed.
  • In the anime, Genba's flashback is shown before he meets Tokiyuki and the other members of the Elusive Warriors, while in the manga, this flashback is shown after Genba talks to them in Kikyogahara.
  • A scene of Genba being at the Suwa Shrine is added, in the manga this never happens.
  • In the anime, before Sadamune's arrival, Shizuku can be seen cleaning a house alongside Yorishige, in the manga, Shizuku is helping to carry objects.
  • The anime remove Yorishige's thoughts after being informed that Sadamune will take over some of the lands in his territory.
  • During the meeting to determine what will be done with Sadamune, Yukiyasu is introduced, however in the manga he is accompanied by Yorinao and Shigenobu so they have been removed from the anime for the time being.
  • In the manga, when Yorishige tells Tokiyuki that they should do wrong things for the right reasons, Tokiyuki is seen with snakes and wings around him, in the anime this is removed.
  • The anime adds a scene of Genba disguised as Moritaka.
  • In the anime, Genba has a conversation with Shizuku and Kojiro that happens after Genba gets down from the tree while Ayako helps Tokiyuki get down from it unlike the manga where this conversation happens in a different location with the four of them walking through the village.
  • The anime omits the scene where Shizuku shows a map of the place to Tokiyuki and Genba, instead this is only mentioned by Genba.
  • Sadamune's mention of Takauji is removed.
  • When Genba tells the story to Tokiyuki of what he did when a woman refused to pay him after a job, the part where Genba mentions that he rolled down the woman's kimono while naked is removed.
  • In the manga, Genba walks towards the soldiers with his normal appearance, causing Tokiyuki to start questioning whether he fell into Genba's trap, while in the anime, Genba is not seen walking towards the soldiers, but instead is seen transformed directly into Sadamune.

Trivia[]

  • While in the manga the final score is 5 to 4, in the anime it is 6 to 5.
  • This episode introduces Yukiyasu, however unlike the manga, his name is not revealed.
