Chapter 3 is titled "Revenge 1333".
Synopsis[]
Godaiin hits Tokiyuki who barely dodges it, Godaiin asks him why it is so hard since his brother's enemy is in front of him, Kojiro approaches Godaiin and tells him to get away from Tokiyuki but Godaiin manages to give him a while Ayako tries to defend Tokiyuki taking a hit from Godaiin, Kojiro and Ayako notice that Godaiin is very strong and thanks to having to defend Tokiyuki and himself they cannot attack him properly.
Godaiin thinks about the situation and Yorishige's plan is questioned since even though Ayako and Kojiro are strong they are fighting an adult and when the surprise attack fails they cannot win and even though there are three enemies their ability is their quickly adapting to the circumstances, Godaiin tells Tokiyuki not to make the situation more difficult and to give himself up while remembering how he betrayed Kunitoki and mentions that he is the former heir.
Meanwhile Yorishige calls Kojiro and Ayako and tells them to stay with him, the two claim that they must protect Tokiyuki to which Yorishige tells them to carefully observe the battle and the power of adaptation to circumstances, both are surprised seeing Tokiyuki dodge all the attacks quickly and Shizuku mentions that he can even be seen happy while doing it and Ayako mentions that those skills cannot be learned by training, Yorishige tells them that he is not a coward he is just someone who enjoys running away and although those skills may not be much in real life he can be a great force in battle, and he asks them if they want to serve under Tokiyuki to which Shizuku, Kojiro and Ayako agree.
Yorishige tells them to enter the battle again and not to focus on defending Tokiyuki since he can do it alone so Ayako and Kojiro return to the battle while Godaiin is desperate for not being able to hit Tokiyuki at that moment Kojiro and Ayako hit him from behind and tell Tokiyuki that they will serve Godaiin so that Tokiyuki can kill him, Ayako and Kojiro hit and dodge Godaiin's attacks throwing him to the ground at that moment Kojiro and Ayako hold Godaiin so he can't stand up while shouting to Tokiyuki that it's his turn.
Tokiyuki approaches Godaiin as he thinks of his brother, his father and the people of Kamakura and tells them that although Godaiin's head is not enough he hopes that he can be of use to them for now while he beheads Godaiin.
After the battle the group resumes their journey towards Shinano, Yorishige asks Tokiyuki how he feels about defeating his first enemy Tokiyuki mentions that he was only dodging the attacks until he saw his neck and thanks them for their help, Yorishige tells him He says that by winning that battle he was able to gain experience and as long as he does not lose his pride as the last survivor of the hojo clan he can defeat any enemy, he is happy and promises that one day he will return to Kamakura to defeat Takauji and the Ashikaga clan and launches his katana as a promise, Yorishige tells him that he is proud and that he saw the future at that moment and in his vision he saw that throwing the katana would cause a problem at that moment a wolf approaches Tokiyuki so he runs away, the group watches as Tokiyuki runs away from the wolf as they wonder if he is just a coward.
