The Archery Arc is the third arc in The Elusive Samurai series.
The current Shugo of Shinano has been abusing his power in order to find the survivors of the Hojo clan, upon hearing that the Inuomono will be held in Suwa, he decides to participate, at that moment Yorishige and Tokiyuki decide to challenge him to stop abusing his power.
Summary[]
Sadamune's Arrival[]
Tokiyuki shows his sword skills to Yorishige, who sees that Tokiyuki is not used to using his muscles to use a sword so they try to find a skill that he can fight in, Yorishige notes that Tokiyuki can use the bow at least trying to improve their skills and wondering who could teach Tokiyuki.
Sadamune arrives at the shrine causing all the inhabitants to panic, Yorishige tells Tokiyuki and the rest to hide from Sadamune. Sadamune greets Yorishige and tells him that the emperor has appointed him shugo de shinano surprising everyone present. Moritaka tells sadamune that how is it possible if a few days ago he was a servant of the suwa clan to which Sadamune replies that he fought against the Hojo clan while they fought on the side of the clan so they are suspected of welcoming any vassal or clan survivor. Yorishige tells him that they did not take in any fugitives so Sadamune leaves but not before showing his skills with the bow by hitting a priestess in the ear.
Yorishige and the others have a meeting to discuss Sadamune, Tokiyuki tells him that even though what he did was wrong, Sadamune had amazing skill with a bow, causing Yorishige to tell him to learn Sadamune's skills while hiding from him, exciting Tokiyuki.
Inuomono[]
Somewhere in Shinano, Ichikawa tells Sadamune that Suwa is hosting the Inuomono so Sadamune is eager to participate and locate the surviving Hojo clan. 3 days later, Kojiro participates in the Inuomono obtaining 6 points bothering him, after his participation Sadamune appears as a surprise participant who manages to have the highest possible score surprising everyone with his great skills. The inhabitants are annoyed at the participation of Sadamune so he tells them that if there is no one who can defeat him he will use his authority to search all the houses until he finds the fugitive and being the governor no one can refuse.
Yorishige hears this and tells him that he accepts his challenge but if Yorishige wins Sadamune cannot use his authority to disturb his territory, Sadamune accepts his condition and asks who will be the archer to face him to which Yorishige points to Tokiyuki surprising everyone. , Kojiro and Ayako drag Yorishige and Tokiyuki and ask him why he chose him, Yorishige tells them that to be the best you have to face the best and that will help Tokiyuki improve his bow skills, Tokiyuki accepts the challenge and compete against Sadamune. After their confrontation, Tokiyuki manages to score more points than Sadamune, so he becomes the winner, making Sadamune unable to use his authority in Suwa's territory, bothering him.
